The 2016 BMW 7-Series: Power + Performance = Perfection

The 7-Series isn’t just the flagship of the BMW line, it sets the stage for the debut of their leading-edge technology features that once used, you can never be without.

Too Marvelous for Words

With each generation, the BMW 7-Series continues to surpass the competition by offering luxury, comfort and efficiency along with groundbreaking technological expertise. This top-of-the-line sixth generation 2016 7-Series represents the pinnacle of BMW’s innovative capabilities and gives you the technology to see what your eyes alone cannot.

High Hopes

The 2016 7-Series will be available with two engine options. Under the hood of the 740i Sedan is a powerful 320-horsepower, 3.0-liter, TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine. The 750i XDrive boasts a 445-horsepower 4.4-liter, TwinPower turbocharged V8.

It Was a Very Good Year

A powerful engine coupled with a cockpit to make a jet pilot envious, the unique electronic features, advanced vehicle dynamics and significant weight reduction puts the 2016 BMW 7-Series in a class by itself.

That Old Black Magic

BMW is the recognized leader in the use of weight-saving carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), most commonly used in race cars because it meets extremely stringent safety requirements.
The “black magic” material is manufactured in Moses Lake, Washington, and trims the weight of the 7-Series significantly, down a svelte 190 pounds from last year, allowing this new generation to combine efficiency with sporty dynamics that was never before available.

For the first time, CFRP was combined with steel and aluminum using a completely new production process. The roof frame is a core-free, closed structural element, bringing both the extreme strength of the material as well as its weight advantage fully to bear, and lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity.

This method of joining the CFRP and steel is proprietary to BMW and is 100 percent renewable and recyclable.

The doors and trunk lid are made of aluminum alloy, another first.

In the 2016 7-Series, sustainability and lightweight design go hand in hand.

This is Carbon Core, not Common Core.

Come Blow Your Horn

The 7-Series isn’t just the flagship of the BMW line, it sets the stage for the debut of their leading-edge technology that once used, you can never be without.

The 7-Series enhanced driving dynamics includes an Adaptive Driving Mode that predicts three vehicle settings: Comfort, Sport and ECO PRO.

Adaptive cruise control uses the navigation system and dash-mounted cameras that can read traffic signs and adjust your speed automatically. The 8-speed automatic transmission is linked to the navigation system allowing for shift changes, plus the Auto Start/Stop mode turns the engine off temporarily while at stoplights.

A self-steering system keeps the car centered in its lane at speeds up to 130 mph, and if there’s a car in your blind spot, the navigation system will keep you from leaving your lane.

Stereoscopic cameras at the top of the windshield detect obstacles like speed bumps and signal the car to soften its adaptive dampers. New adaptive headlamps measure speed and steering angle and adjust their position accordingly.

My Way

Intuitive layout includes a dash-mounted 12.3-inch Touchscreen with iDrive 5.0 interface. Gesture Control, a new and exciting feature, can detect your hand movements without actually touching the screen. Rotate your index finger to adjust the audio volume, point at the screen with two fingers to start navigation and wave your hand to the right to dismiss a phone call.

A new wireless charging system for smartphones is located in the center console with an additional microphone so passengers can join in on a Bluetooth call.

Come Fly With Me

Air suspension on the front and rear axles ensures a smooth ride, and adaptive dampers retain BMW’s legendary handling performance while the car maintains a 50:50 weight balance between the front and rear.

Another “first” is an electric grill that automatically opens and closes to balance the engine cooling needs.

Get advanced access to your BMW with a state-of-the-art remote control Display Key that can be used to wirelessly charge your smartphone, too.

You and the Night and the Music

The Rear Executive Lounge Seating Package gives the advantage of extra legroom (44.4”), plus a reclining back seat, fold-out table, two cup holders and a storage compartment.

The skillful use of insulation has improved acoustics so the audio from the exclusively designed 14,000 watt Bowers & Wilkins surround sound with 16 speakers, the first of its kind, takes care of your entertainment needs. The sound system features studio-grade acoustic technologies including sound settings to match the selected entertainment genre.

The 7-inch removable BMW Touch Command Tablet lets you control functions like seat adjustment, interior lighting, air conditioning and infotainment. The tablet also plays external audio and video files, and can be used to surf the internet or used as a game console. A WiFi hotspot built into the vehicle provides connectivity.

Plus, to set the right mood, a perfume ionizer is available with your choice of eight scents.

Fly Me to the Moon

To enhance the lounge atmosphere of this luxury vehicle, a two-section Panoramic moonroof is standard. An optional Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof features 15,000 glass etchings that, when lit, creates the effect of a starlit sky.

Swinging on a Star

Elegant touches of brightwork can be found throughout the 7-Series. The instrument panel has a new satin-metallic look, and both the trim strips and the instrument panel chrome accents are made individually for each car; their dimensions are matched to the nearest millimeter.

A beautifully sculpted beltline crease rises from the hood and continues all the way to the rear lamps with a chrome accent bar across the rear.

The rear apron exhaust tailpipes are framed by chrome surrounds adding luxurious detail to the body.

Also setting the M Sport models apart from the standard 7-Series are two exclusive colors: Carbon Black Metallic and Singapore Gray Metallic.

Send in the Clowns

Key competitors to the 7-Series include the Audi A8, Lexus LS and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

All the Way

The BMW 7-Series sets a precedent in luxury car ownership with its new Ultimate Benefits Service, including white glove treatment, Encore Delivery, Priority Service appointments, pick up and drop off and 24/7 Concierge Service.

Autumn in New York

The ultimate in big-car style, the 2016 BMW 7-Series will topple the luxury market by offering unrivaled advanced technology, comfort, sportiness and efficiency. Without question, aesthetic perfection.
